Join us for a series of talks and discussions on outdoor learning and education. We’ll explore the transformative impact of integrating outdoor experiences into educational practices at a time where it is more crucial than ever. These sessions will highlight the many benefits of outdoor learning, from fostering environmental stewardship and promoting physical health, to enhancing emotional well-being and essential life skills. This series provides a unique opportunity for educators, administrators, and enthusiasts to connect with experts in the field and gain insights into best practices for outdoor education. Learn the what, where, why, when and how to engage students in nature and enrich their learning experiences.

Rob Carmichael

Originally from Northern Ireland, Rob has led the globally recognized and award-winning Outdoor & Experiential Education Department at UWC Thailand for the past five years. His extensive experience in a range of outdoor disciplines has enabled him to guide and support participants and students in a range of experiential learning environments including challenging multi-day expeditions. Rob also plays a key role in international organisations, serving on the Duke of Edinburgh International Award Advisory Panel and as a leading member of the OFFSEAS (Outdoor Forum for South East Asian Schools) committee. In addition to this Rob shares his insights on outdoor and experiential education with audiences worldwide as conference speaker and workshop leader.



Kenny Peavy

Kenny is originally from Georgia, USA. He’s been living and teaching overseas for 23+ years in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia. He’s lead thousands of students on Education Outside the Classroom Expeditions for cultural immersion, ecology, adventure and service learning throughout Southeast Asia. Kenny is currently an educator in the Middle School at Green School Bali. In his current role, he teaches Science, Math, and Regeneration in an experiential outdoor setting. He’s ridden a bamboo bicycle from Thailand to Bali to raise awareness for sustainability in Southeast Asia and circumnavigated Phuket Island in Thailand in a kayak to spotlight marine conservation issues in the region. He is author of The Box People- Out of the BOX! An illustrated children’s book focused on sustainable communities with the message to get out of your box and play outside to make deep connections with Nature! As a result of his dedication to the environment, environmental education and conservation he’s been awarded Volunteer of the Year by both the Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Organization in the USA and the Malaysian Nature Society in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
